Winking Studios, a prominent Asian company known for its work in game development outsourcing, recently announced its acquisition of Mineloader, a respected Chinese firm. The deal is valued at £16.3 million, or around $19.87 million. This includes an initial payment of $14.7 million upfront, with the remaining amount spread over five years depending on how Mineloader performs against set milestones.
Established in 2003, Mineloader specializes in art outsourcing, a critical aspect of game development. Commenting on this acquisition, Johnny Jan, CEO and founder of Winking Studios, remarked, “This is our most significant acquisition to date and a crucial step in strengthening our position in the global gaming industry. It opens up exciting opportunities for innovation and growth.”
He further emphasized the importance of game art, saying, “Game art forms the visual core of any video game, playing a key role in captivating players and shaping their experience. With Mineloader’s solid track record and expertise in game art production, their team of over 460 skilled professionals will greatly enhance our current workforce, which is over 800 strong. This move not only expands our service offerings but also brings in new clients. Moreover, Mineloader’s established connections in the Japanese market add tremendous value to our network.”
