Warner Bros has decided to halt plans for expanding Hogwarts Legacy, which might come as a surprise to many fans eagerly waiting for more magic from their favorite wizarding world. According to Bloomberg, the expansion was supposed to roll out alongside a proposed Definitive Edition of the Harry Potter-themed action RPG, promising fresh storylines to enchant players.
However, it seems the project has been shelved due to concerns over its content not justifying the hefty price tag they had in mind. The team at Avalanche Software, known for their work on the original game, had been collaborating with Rocksteady on this new content. Moreover, Avalanche is reportedly busy sketching out a sequel to the beloved game, keeping the magical adventures alive in another form.
Meanwhile, Rocksteady, who brought us news of job layoffs, recently disclosed that they would cease supporting the 2024 project, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. This shift reflects a broader trend within Warner Bros’ gaming division, a sector they admitted was falling short of expectations last year. The same year saw a staggering $200 million write-off tied to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and the shuttering of three studios, including Monolith, coupled with the departure of long-standing executive David Haddad.
