Nintendo has highlighted the importance of exclusive games when they roll out the Nintendo Switch 2, recognizing how these offerings will be key to its success.
This came to light when a shareholder posed a question about the future availability of new Nintendo Switch games once the new console is introduced to the market.
Responding to this, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa explained: “We have already announced some exciting titles slated for the Nintendo Switch platform in 2025, like Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Given the number of people still actively using the Nintendo Switch, we remain eager to create appealing software and continue to launch new games.”
However, he emphasized the significance of exclusive content, adding, “Exclusive games are crucial for rolling out new hardware. We plan to explore various strategies to ensure that both Nintendo Switch and the new Nintendo Switch 2 can offer games that captivate as many players as possible.”
If you’re curious about the details of this upcoming console, keep an eye out for the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation. It’s scheduled to stream at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm BST / 3pm CEST on Wednesday, April 2nd.
While the exact release date for Nintendo Switch 2 remains under wraps, you can expect its global debut sometime in 2025.
