It’s been a while, but the Savage Planet series is making its grand return! We’re diving back in with a sequel, crafted by the same team and originating from the same studio, albeit under a new moniker: Raccoon Logic.
Originally known as Typhoon Studios, we were the brains behind Journey to the Savage Planet, which first hit the shelves in 2020 and is accessible via the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. Now, we’re thrilled to introduce Revenge of the Savage Planet, a humorous sci-fi survival tale where explorers add a dose of hilarity to their life-and-death adventures. Get ready for takeoff on PS5 and PS4 in May 2025!
In this installment, you’ll get to design and personalize your habitat, explore extraterrestrial environments, and scan and record everything in sight, hoping to crack survival’s code. With the addition of more celestial bodies, this sequel blasts into a larger, more colorful cosmos. From the outset, co-op play is available, complemented by a fresh third-person view that lets you dash, leap, and blast your way across four lively planets. You’ll be collecting and crafting as you beef up your abilities and discover hidden treasures.
Today marks the unveiling of our fifth, secretive planet—one teeming with decidedly unnatural creatures. Let some of our team members shed light on the creative principles that guided its development.
But first, don’t miss the video below!
As you explore this new world, curiosity remains key! Capture strange creatures, dive into lakes, ascend towering peaks, grind along rails, and stumble upon a mysterious lair brimming with amusement. This fifth world introduces an interior setting that contrasts sharply with our typical expansive, organic landscapes, ensuring unpredictability at every turn! Our team shares more about it:
### A World Drawn from Retro Arcades and 90’s Pop Culture
>”Packed with novel challenges, dizzying verticals, and uniquely altered creatures, this final world ties up all the game’s loose ends.”
>– Reid Schneider, Studio Head
>”By juxtaposing digital elements, we immerse players in a mystery extending beyond the natural beauty of our planets. Slappi’s design came alive through this dark, perilous lair, blending with our renowned quirky alien fauna.”
>– Steve Masters, Lead Designer
>”For the audio design, we took a direction that clashes with the typical, opting for a digital soundscape that evokes being inside a grand computer spiced with playful 8-bit accents.”
>– Cameron Jarvis, Audio Director
>”We aimed to offer sheer entertainment, drawing inspiration from retro arcade games to infuse that nostalgic feel. We embraced hard surface modeling paired with neon colors, celebrating 90s entertainment aesthetics.”
>– Erick Bilodeau, Art Director
### Dual Co-op Modes, Locally and Online
In Revenge of the Savage Planet, there’s no shortage of gameplay options. Whether you prefer the couch co-op experience, playing locally with a friend, or diving into online cross-play, there’s something for everyone. Prefer flying solo? No worries—single-player mode lets you do just that!
>”Our approach to systematic design crafts extraordinary interactions and discoveries, inviting players to explore and experiment. It permeates the world, its inhabitants, and your entire journey. Each playthrough offers fresh discoveries and unique experiences.”
>– Noemie L’Ecuyer, Producer
