For those eagerly anticipating an expansion to Hogwarts Legacy, recent updates have dealt a blow. Rumors have been swirling about this story DLC, yet word on the street is that Warner Bros. has decided to pull the plug. The buzz is that restructuring within their gaming segment motivated this decision, along with doubts about whether the content would really justify the price tag they had in mind.
Jason Schreier from Bloomberg provided this insight. He had earlier confirmed whispers about the Hogwarts Legacy expansion, which was supposedly set to debut alongside a special Director’s Cut edition. However, despite the chatter, Warner Bros. kept quiet, never officially admitting to any DLC plans, which makes it unlikely they’ll say much about its cancellation now.
Interestingly, Avalanche Software had reportedly recruited help from Rocksteady Studios to work on this addition, especially after Rocksteady’s recent stumble with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Now, Rocksteady seems to be ironing out plans for its next big release, rumored to involve Batman once again, expected on the PS5 and possibly the PS6.
Hogwarts Legacy isn’t alone in having an expansion axed; Wonder Woman suffered a similar fate. This might catch many off guard because Hogwarts Legacy has been a wildly successful title for WB Games. Still, there’s a silver lining for fans: the possibility of a sequel remains alive.
