StrikerVR, a company well-known for its haptic technology in out-of-home VR experiences, has just unveiled an exciting new product for consumers—the Mavrik VR gun. Pre-orders for this highly anticipated device are now available, and it’s catching the attention of VR enthusiasts everywhere.
The Mavrik, which is compatible with both the Quest 3 and Quest 3S, is priced at $499. If you’re keen on getting this immersive gadget by Christmas, you’re in luck—StrikerVR has announced that 1,000 units will be ready for delivery during the holiday season. For those who don’t make it in time, general shipping is slated to start on March 15, 2025.
This consumer-friendly version of the Mavrik mirrors the Pro model used in location-based entertainment. It features robust recoil and haptic feedback, offering an immersive experience like no other. The device also has a picatinny accessory rail complete with a Quest controller mount, which means you can enjoy six degrees-of-freedom (6DOF) tracking—a nod to its highly detailed and interactive gameplay.
In terms of pricing, the Mavrik stands as a more affordable alternative to the $950 Mavrik-Pro. However, like many third-party XR accessories, its success will largely depend on the depth of its game support. Currently, it’s important to note that not all games are compatible out of the box. Developers need to integrate support for their Quest 3 titles manually.
Upon its release, the Mavrik will come packaged with three games: Tower Tag, a strategic esports game by Steinfatt GmbH; Laser Limbo, a mixed-reality FPS from freeroam.ar; and an eagerly awaited title that is still under wraps.
StrikerVR isn’t stopping there. They’re actively working with developers to expand the Mavrik’s library of games, with fresh releases expected to roll out throughout 2025. Moreover, the company has exciting plans for next year, including an upgrade for integrated tracking in the removable top plate and acquiring ‘Made for Meta’ certification. This certification places it alongside renowned third-party accessories such as the D-Link VR Air Bridge and Zenni’s MR prescription lenses for the Meta Quest 3S/2.
According to the Mavrik’s product page, the package includes the blaster itself, a mount for the left controller, a power adapter suitable for US, EU, and UK outlets, and a USB-C charging cable. However, details surrounding battery life or capacity and the specifics of the haptic engines are still under wraps.
This thrilling new entry into consumer VR technology highlights StrikerVR’s commitment to enhancing virtual reality experiences, promising gamers a truly immersive adventure.
