Since 2017, Capcom hasn’t introduced a new Ace Attorney game, but the company keeps the series active in various ways. They’ve brought almost all the games in the series to current platforms over recent years. For fans who enjoy crossovers, Capcom organized a themed event in March 2025 tied to its popular 2023 title, Street Fighter 6. This event, available between March 3 and March 24, came with a battle pass called the Turnabout Gala, which offered special rewards exclusive to that period.
Street Fighter 6’s Ace Attorney event packed in quite a few goodies. Players discovered a fresh Capcom arcade game, some Steel Samurai gear for avatars, an “Objection!” emote, and tracks straight from the Ace Attorney soundscape. Additionally, the battle pass offered themed stickers and camera frames suited to photo mode enthusiasts. Unsurprisingly, to grab most of these coveted items, players needed to purchase in-game currency. While it’s exciting to see such nods to Ace Attorney in Street Fighter 6, the lack of new stand-out characters was notably disappointing.
When delving into Street Fighter 6, you’ll notice that previous games in the series often featured characters from various franchises, either through downloadable content or new versions of the games. This time around, however, only two familiar faces from SNK’s Fatal Fury and King of Fighters franchises, Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui, made an appearance in the game’s second season DLC. Fans expected more from the collaborations; other franchise events have only brought cosmetics and not much else. Players had hoped for new fighters with unique abilities, but instead, they found themselves facing pricey in-game items that didn’t enhance gameplay.
Many fans were let down by the recent Ace Attorney collaboration, especially considering their anticipation to see its characters return to the fighting game arena. Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney’s leading man, once joined the fighting fray in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 back in 2011. There, he proved himself as a worthy, albeit unconventional, fighter despite his lack of superpowers. Capcom had a similar golden opportunity with Street Fighter 6 but missed the mark. In the collaboration, rather than introducing Phoenix Wright as a new fighter, Capcom settled on offering Ace Attorney-themed trinkets like stickers and armor sets. While these items can thrill players looking for something new, relying solely on cosmetics for crossover content can often lead to disappointment.
