So, there’s this game called Silent North. It’s this new sandbox survival shooter deal from the folks over at Combat Waffle—you know, the studio behind Ghosts of Tabor. They’ve thrown it into the wild for early access on Quest and PC VR headsets. Man, remember those flannel-covered game nights with Rust back in 2013—or maybe you don’t? Anyway, it’s got some of that same open-world, do-what-you-want vibe. You can make enemies or get snuggly with strangers, if that’s your thing. The whole world’s your sandcastle to build or wreck, pretty much.
And Scott Albright, the big kahuna at Combat Waffle Studios, was saying something about how Silent North is a whole different animal compared to Ghosts of Tabor. Like, if Ghosts was all about sneaking in, snatching gear, and getting out without a peep, Silent North is… well, it’s got more layers or something. It’s about living in the wild, not just visiting. Albright seems pretty jazzed about breaking new ground with VR survival stuff too, which is neat because, let’s be honest, VR needed some spice.
Oh, and don’t get me started on the survival bits—zombies, or “Infected” if I want to be all proper. Other players are out there too, eyeing your loot and probably planning to stab you in the back. It’s survival of the sneakiest!
So, they’re calling this the “alpha Early Access” phase, which makes it sound all science-y and serious. You can grab it on the Horizon Store if you’re rocking a Quest 2 or a newer headset. Or, if you’re on the PC VR bandwagon, it’s on Steam, for about 20 bucks. Feels a little steep for an early access, but hey, maybe it’s worth having a jump on the apocalypse, right?
