In a major leap for portable gaming, OneXPlayer recently rolled out the X1 Pro, a versatile device that effortlessly transforms into a laptop, tablet, or a handheld console, boasting AMD’s Strix Point APUs at its core. Coming on the heels of its predecessors, the F1 Pro and Ayaneo 3, the X1 Pro stands out as one of the pioneers to integrate AMD’s innovative Zen 5 Strix Point processors. These advancements make it a formidable rival to GPD’s anticipated Pocket 4 mini laptops.
The X1 Pro is loaded with features that appeal to both gamers and tech enthusiasts alike. Under the hood, it comes equipped with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, offering a dynamic mix of 12 cores split into four Zen 5 and eight Zen 5c cores within a dual-CCX configuration. This setup is complemented by 12MB of L2 cache and 24MB of L3 cache, pushing up to a 5.1 GHz boost clock. Visual performance is powered by the Radeon 890M iGPU, which packs 16 Compute Units (CUs), and thanks to AMD’s XDNA 2, the NPU delivers an astounding 50 TOPS of AI capability.
Looking at the display, the X1 Pro sports an eye-catching 10.95-inch 120 Hz LTPS screen, likely using an IPS panel, and offers a sharp resolution of 2560×1600 (2.5K). The colors are truly vibrant, covering 138% of the sRGB spectrum with a brightness peak of 540 nits. Storage is configurable to meet various needs, ranging from 1TB to an expansive 4TB, with rapid data transfer rates that can reach 7.1 GB/s for reading and 6.5 GB/s for writing. Additionally, there’s a MicroSD card slot for even more storage flexibility.
When it comes to pricing, prospective buyers can snap up the X1 Pro during its presale at a reduced price. For instance, the model with the HX 370, 1TB of storage, and 32GB RAM is priced at $1,399 compared to its retail price of $1,599. Similarly, other configurations are offered with varying storage and RAM options, allowing users to choose what best suits their needs.
Powering the device is a 65.02Wh battery that the company claims can last eight hours, although actual usage times may vary. When running at 28W, the battery is expected to provide about two hours of operation. OneXPlayer packages a 100W Gallium Nitride charger to ensure rapid recharging. In terms of connectivity, the device supports the latest Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, promising fast and reliable wireless connections.
For those concerned about joystick durability, OneXPlayer has incorporated hall-effect RGB joysticks designed to prevent stick drift. On the connectivity side, the X1 Pro includes two USB 4.0 ports, an OCuLink interface, a MicroSD card slot, a USB 3.2 Type-A port, and a handy 3.5mm audio jack, covering a wide range of peripheral needs.
The window for pre-orders is now open, offering a chance to purchase the X1 Pro at a special price during the presale phase. Shipping is slated to begin on January 3rd, and fans can expect to see a demonstration of the X1 Pro along with other exciting devices at CES 2025 next month.
