A couple of months after facing legal challenges from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, the developers of Palworld, known as PocketPair, have issued an official statement.
In a recent post on the company’s website, they detailed the plaintiffs’ demands. Essentially, they are being asked to halt the game’s release and to pay ¥5 million (approximately $32,763 at the current exchange rate) each to Nintendo and TPC. Additionally, the dispute involves three specific patents, which were initially reported on by Gematsu.
These Japanese patents are numbered JP7545191B1, JP7493117, and JP7528390. The patent applications were filed in July, February, and March 2024 respectively, and received approvals in August, May, and July. Meanwhile, Palworld made its debut in early access back in January.
