Fans of NVIDIA might find themselves waiting a bit longer than anticipated to secure the RTX 5090 and 5080 GPUs from Overclockers UK.
The pre-orders for these highly sought-after graphics cards have been halted, with expectations set for the RTX 5090 to reappear in 3 to 16 weeks, while the RTX 5080 is likely to return in about 2 to 6 weeks.
The launch of NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series was nothing short of chaotic, resembling what many have dubbed a ‘paper launch.’ Some retailers didn’t receive even a single unit of the RTX 5090, while others just got a couple. The few that did manage to stock them saw their inventory depleted within minutes of lifting the embargo. The RTX 5080, despite being somewhat more available than its sibling and offering only modest performance enhancements over previous generations, also disappeared from shelves rapidly.
If you’re counting the days to get one of these GPUs, prepare to wait a while. According to Overclockers UK, both the RTX 5090 and 5080 are currently out of stock, and pre-orders are on pause. This essentially means that even if you’re ready to wait, there’s no option to reserve your unit at the moment via their platform. So, when can eager buyers expect to see stock replenished?
Overclockers UK has indicated that the RTX 5090 could take up to 16 weeks to return. If it does take the full 16 weeks, you’ll likely be looking at a May 2025 release for your purchase. By then, the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 will have already been launched, with the 5070 Ti expected on February 20th and the 5070 following in March.
On January 31, 2025, Overclockers UK shared a stock update, revealing the exceptionally high demand and limited supply scenario that resulted in all RTX 50 Series cards selling out swiftly post-launch. Here’s the stock update forecast:
– RTX 5090 ETA: 3-16 Weeks
– RTX 5080 ETA: 2-6 Weeks
Interestingly, the RTX 5080 could make its way back to shelves within the next month or so, having demonstrated somewhat better availability globally, though still insufficient to meet the overwhelming demand. Its price point matched its predecessor, the RTX 4080 Super, which sparked a buying frenzy despite its less impressive performance leap compared to the RTX 5090.
Such was the demand that some enthusiasts camped outside stores, with retailers resorting to lotteries to manage the interest in purchasing these pricey GPUs. Presently, if you’ve already ordered an RTX 50 GPU from Overclockers UK without receiving a confirmation, it might still be caught in the pre-order backlog.
Given this scenario, Overclockers UK has paused taking any more pre-orders. The timeline for when these GPUs will again grace the inventories of other global retailers remains uncertain, but it’s safe to say they won’t be available anytime soon.
