Mundfish, the creative minds behind Atomic Heart, have been gradually unveiling details about the game’s third DLC installment. This time, they’re introducing a new character named Nastya. When Atomic Heart first hit the shelves in February 2023, it took players on a wild ride through an alternate history of post-apocalyptic Russia. While the game received a mixed bag of reviews, those who were captivated by its story have eagerly anticipated the rollout of the four promised DLCs, released over the years since the game’s debut.
To date, two expansions have been added to the game’s universe. The first, titled “Annihilation Instinct,” delved into the events immediately after the main storyline’s conclusion. It was heavily focused on NORA, the AI that helps protagonist P-3 manage his inventory and enhance his weaponry. The subsequent DLC invited players back into Limbo, a mind-bending realm born from the intertwined psyche of P-3 and his deceased wife, Ekaterina.
The latest DLC marks a shift from the trippy world of “Trapped in Limbo,” planting its feet more firmly in the familiar terrain above ground. Set to launch on January 28, 2025, “Enchantment Under the Sea” has been the subject of teasers from Mundfish for a while now. They’ve gradually fed the anticipation with enticing screenshots, a gameplay trailer, and now, an image introducing Nastya—a spectacled redhead who seems up to the challenge of Atomic Heart’s turbulent world.
In the newly released trailer, longtime fans can confirm that P-3 retains his role as the protagonist, as his voice can be heard narrating throughout the clip. The return of Granny Zinaida, known to many as Granny, also brings a familiar face back into the fold. There’s also a quick peek at P-3’s latest accessory: a brand-new glove. This nifty gadget replaces Charles, offering up two fresh abilities: Blaze, which tosses fiery projectiles that spread damage across areas, and Whip, a versatile grappling hook that’s as useful as it is lethal. Mundfish hasn’t stopped there; they are also throwing in two brand new weapons for those with a season pass—the electric-charged Thunderclap hammer and the KM-4 Kuzmich, a double-barrel shotgun sporting customized spread options.
For players eager to test out this new arsenal, “Enchantment Under the Sea” doesn’t disappoint. Keeping with its undersea theme, P-3 will be diving into the depths of the Neptune Research Center, where he’ll face challenges like coral mutants and, presumably, a formidable boss called the MOR-4Y. Fans can also look forward to revisiting familiar locales such as Chelomey, observing the aftermath of robot domination since they last stepped foot there.
Set in a once idyllic world turned on its head, Atomic Heart invites players into a disconcerting reality where technology has run amok. Before things went awry, humanity coexisted harmoniously with loyal robots. However, a sinister blend of technological advancements and clandestine experiments has unleashed a monstrous tide of mutants, fearsome machines, and powerful robots, now openly rebelling against their creators. As the hero in this saga, only you can unravel the mysteries shrouding this seemingly perfect world.
Armed with an experimental power glove, a collection of blades, and advanced firearms, players must adapt to defeat diverse adversaries. Strategy and skill will be essential, as you leverage your surroundings and craft upgrades to outsmart your enemies and fight for the greater good.
