NetherRealm has just unveiled Mortal Kombat 1’s highly anticipated guest character, the T-1000, and yes, he’s as brutal as you’d expect. For those who may not be as familiar with the relentless parade of reboots and sequels that the Terminator series has spawned, anyone who’s seen the classic Terminator 2 can’t forget the menacing presence of the T-1000, brilliantly brought to life by Robert Patrick. A while ago, NetherRealm excitedly announced that the T-1000 would be joining the Mortal Kombat 1 roster, and over the weekend, they finally gave us a glimpse of the character in action. From what we’ve seen so far, it’s shaping up to be pretty impressive, especially with Patrick reprising his iconic role.
In true NetherRealm style, they’ve capitalized on the T-1000’s liquid metal abilities, allowing him to transform and morph his body in various ways during gameplay. Now, I’ll be honest, Mortal Kombat’s exaggerated violence doesn’t really do it for me anymore—it’s starting to feel a bit outdated. But even I have to admit, playing as the T-1000 does seem like a blast. However, its Fatality is anything but fun to witness if you’re on the receiving end. Imagine a battered long-haul truck (a nod to the original film) barreling down on your opponent, in this case, the beloved Johnny Cage. Once that’s done, a barrage of bullets finishes off the job, definitely a cautionary tale about watching where you’re going!
In addition to the T-1000, we’ve got a new Kameo character to look forward to—Madam Bo, initially introduced in the base game’s storyline. It’s a clever way to bring her back into the fray. If you already have the Khaos Reigns DLC, Madam Bo will join your collection for free on March 18. The T-1000 also becomes available to Khaos Reigns owners on the same date, while individual players can snag him starting March 25.
