Upon setting sail with the Goromaru in "Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii," you won’t initially have the freedom to change much about your ship. Ship customization, including its look, gear changes, and performance upgrades, won’t be available right off the bat. Luckily, all these elements become accessible simultaneously as you progress through a certain part of the storyline.
When You Can Transform the Ship’s Look in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii
Your journey to ship customization begins in the latter stages of Chapter 2. It kicks off when you bring Clark and Julie on board to overhaul the Goromaru. Then, you’re off to the city to round up more funds and crew members.
To propel the narrative, you’ll need at least 15 crew members along with $10,000. Once these criteria are met, make your way back to the dock. There, Clark and Julie will unveil the revamped Goromaru, unlocking the ship customization feature. Here’s what you can customize:
-
Equipment Changes: You can now buy all sorts of weapons and enhance your current setup.
-
Performance Upgrades: This feature lets you boost your boarding squad, strengthen the ship’s resilience, add more cannons, and enhance the number of available repairs, fuel storage, and smoke screens.
- Aesthetic Tweaks: You can modify the hull, sails, figurehead, and trimming to give the Goromaru a unique style.
To dive into these options, you’ll need to be on the "Prepare to Sail" screen, which you can access at docks or lighthouses.
Once you’ve upgraded the Goromaru, a range of new activities await you on the ship’s deck. The ship’s interior now boasts a cooking station, where you can host feasts and parties. Plus, there’s always karaoke in the captain’s quarters to keep morale high.
