Oh man, so I’ve been keeping tabs on this game, FRENZIES, mainly cause, well, chaos in VR? Count me in! The folks at nDreams dropped some juicy tidbits about it recently — it’s finally leaving early access later this year. Yay! But hang on, before we get too giddy, there’s a catch. And for all the PlayStation VR2 peeps, it’s a bit of a bummer. So, like, remember how they planned to take FRENZIES to PSVR 2, right? Not anymore. Yeah, they hit us with a curveball there.
Now, nDreams put out this statement that’s kinda like, hey, sorry (not sorry) about the PSVR 2 no-show. But they’ve got some mysterious “exciting announcements” in the pipeline for PSVR 2, so, fingers crossed, it’s worth the wait. Earlier, they had this early access thing going on via Meta Quest, and people actually liked what they saw. I guess they’re trying to channel all that positive energy and keep the mojo going. Meta Quest is like their main gig now, it seems.
Honestly, if you picked up the Meta Quest (especially with that whole $300 Quest 3S spiel, which is quite a deal if you ask me – not that anyone did), you’d know there’s a heap of free-to-play stuff popping up there lately. Samantha Ryan from Meta spilled some beans in February about how F2P (free-to-play, in case you’re new to the lingo) is becoming a big thing. Good news for our wallets!
Right, where was I going with this? Oh, yeah, so nDreams seems to be playing it smart, sticking to where all the kids are hanging out – Meta Quest. Maybe this intense economic stuff out there kinda forced their hand. They even had some studio shuffling going on, merging stuff into a new thing called ‘Compass’ after layoffs. I mean, uh, tough times and all. But, they’re like old pros in this XR world, churning out some killer VR games (Vendetta Forever, anyone?) that are totally adding to their clout.
