In a span of just three weeks, Nintendo Switch Online’s Game Boy library has expanded with the addition of four games, all featuring our favorite simians.
This time, Donkey Kong Land III makes its entrance. Following in the footsteps of its predecessors from the last two weeks, this 1997 title joins the Game Boy collection. It’s the third part in a series of custom-made Game Boy adaptations inspired by the Donkey Kong Country series. In this adventure, players will guide Dixie and Kiddy Kong on an exciting quest to discover the “Lost World” before it’s too late and K. Rool, Donkey Kong, or Diddy Kong get there first.
Interestingly, Donkey Kong Land III is one of those rare instances where Donkey Kong himself isn’t playable, nor does he need to be rescued, diverging more from the SNES Country 3 than the previous installments in the series did.
For players in Japan, there’s a special twist. Instead of the standard Game Boy version, the Japanese app is offering the 2000 Game Boy Color re-release, which was previously a regional exclusive.
