Alright, Cyberpunk 2077 fans, it seems you just can’t get enough of your feline friends. Thanks to Deceptious’ series of Apartment Cats mods, you’ve been able to cozy up with some furry companions in your futuristic living spaces. But believe it or not, the hunger for more cat content in Cyberpunk is far from satisfied.
That’s where a fresh mod comes into play, spicing things up with additional cat—and even dog—content in CD Projekt’s RPG. This nifty addition is a mod that enables a text service capable of popping up during your adventures to share random pet trivia, just in case you’ve opted in for it.
This brainchild from the modder MisterChedda is aptly named ‘CatFacts’, and it truly delivers what it promises, with a touch of extra whimsy. Considering this is the same creator who previously introduced a motorcycle constructed from a giant hotdog and two cheeseburgers to the game, it’s safe to say creativity is their forte.
The mod cleverly introduces an automated feature to V’s in-game phone, breaking up the endless stream of game-related texts with quirky feline facts you control through the mod’s settings. Imagine this: you’re in the middle of an intense moment, maybe a serious heart-to-heart with Johnny Silverhand or a daring infiltration of Arasaka Tower. Suddenly, a pop-up from a new contact, ‘Catfacts’, delivers a fun tidbit like, “A group of cats is called a clowder.” Then, just as easily, it vanishes after you read it, leaving your inbox clutter-free. It’s a win-win.
Curious about where these fun facts originate? They pull from a free online API named Catfact.ninja, thanks to another Cyberpunk mod called ‘RedHttpClient’ which fetches these random nuggets of feline wisdom. Not a fan of cats? No problem—switch it up in the settings to receive dog-related facts instead through the DogAPI. According to their website, the dog facts come from a collection submitted by the public, so you’re getting a diverse mix of pet trivia.
For those who appreciate transparency, MisterChedda has generously shared the mod’s source code on GitHub. This move lets the curious minds out there verify that the mod sticks to requests about cats and dogs only.
By the way, did you know the first cat show took place in 1871 at London’s Crystal Palace, organized by artist Harrison Weir? Fascinating, right? Drop your thoughts below!
