Bandai Namco, the well-known Japanese publisher, has announced that it will be closing down Bandai Namco Online, its division dedicated to online gaming. This decision means that all operations under Bandai Namco Online will be integrated into the main company. However, there hasn’t been any specific information released about how this will impact employees within the division.
Established in 2009, Bandai Namco Online was initially created to focus on online gaming titles, with popular games under its belt like Dragon Ball Z: X KeeperZ, Gundam Evolution, and Blue Protocol. The decision to dissolve the division is attributed to the shifting landscape of the gaming industry. Bandai Namco aims to improve its overall business management in the digital space, which prompted this strategic move.
Additionally, it’s notable that earlier this year, Bandai Namco revealed plans to end their MMO project, Blue Protocol, which they were developing in collaboration with Amazon. This game is set to go offline on January 18th, 2025. This closure seems to be in line with their current strategy of restructuring their online operations.
