Schell Games and Innersloth have some exciting news for fans of the hit game Among Us VR, as they announce plans to bring flatscreen support, enabling crossplay between VR and PC users.
In a significant update, the game will undergo a rebranding to Among Us 3D, granting PC players the chance to dive into the action from a first-person perspective for the very first time.
Schell Games has shared that this new version, Among Us 3D, will facilitate seamless cross-platform play, allowing PC and VR users to mingle in lobbies across all compatible platforms such as Quest, SteamVR, PSVR 2, and Pico headsets. It’s important to note, however, that Among Us 3D won’t be compatible with the older 2D version of Among Us from 2018, as this remains a distinct game since the standalone release of Among Us VR in November 2022.
Ryan Hall, Project Director at Schell Games, expressed enthusiasm about the rebranding: “With Among Us 3D, we’re thrilled to introduce the first-person view to a broader audience. By connecting VR and PC players, we’re expanding the opportunities for some fun and, well, a little mischief as you and your crew play together!”
The rebranding effort is expected to unfold gradually over the coming months, with updates trickling through store pages, websites, and within the game itself.
Additionally, Among Us 3D will introduce a new in-game currency called ‘Stardust.’ This currency is expected to enable players to customize their experience by purchasing cosmetic items, a feature designed to support the game’s development and growth.
While there’s no official release date announced yet, fans might not have to wait long. Among Us 3D is set to make its debut at Steam Next Fest, offering players a chance to get an exclusive early look through a demo before the full launch.
