So, here’s the deal — Among Us VR got this makeover, and now it’s called, uh, Among Us 3D. And get this, the regular flat version with VR cross-play or something is gonna pop up next month. Hmm, I guess that’s kinda exciting if you’re into that sort of thing?
Anyway, back in February, Schell Games spilled the beans about tweaking Among Us VR for flat platforms (who even thought that was needed?). It’s got this snazzy new name, Among Us 3D, and even though it still sticks to that first-person vibe, you can now have PC folks playing with VR peeps. Crazy, right? They’re charging $9.99, which, honestly, seems fair. Oh, right! It’s hitting your screens on May 6 — mark your calendars or not, your call.
So, yeah, last week, I caught wind of this major rebranding. Apparently, Meta Quest, SteamVR, PlayStation VR2, and Pico are all in on it. Weirdly, it’s called Among Us 3D on Quest and Pico, yet on PS VR2 and Steam, you’ll see it as Among Us 3D: VR. Not sure why exactly, but probably to avoid mixing things up with the flat version, since both Steam and PS5 can run flats and VRs? Just a guess.
Oh, they also introduced this shiny new thing called Stardust as an in-game currency. Sounds cosmic, if you ask me. Supposedly, it supports the game’s growth or whatever. The last major update shoved in a new shop in the Wardrobe and tossed in 30 fancy cosmetic doodads. More bling is apparently a thing if people start hitting that ‘wishlist’ button on Steam for Among Us 3D. Sounds like a clever little nudge, eh?
Somewhere amidst all that chaos, Schell Games also mentioned, like, a Tag Mode, where you can be ‘The Infected’. They’re teasing more updates with fresh missions and collaborations galore. Something worth peeking at — or not, if you’re already overwhelmed with updates everywhere.
So, yeah, May 6 is game day on PC for Among Us 3D, but if you’re on SteamVR, Quest, PlayStation VR2, or Pico, you’re already set. Dive in, or binge some old episodes — whatever floats your boat.
