Microsoft has rolled out a fresh lineup of Xbox Series consoles, featuring the Xbox Series X 1TB Digital Edition, the eye-catching Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition, and the Xbox Series S 1TB version. Let’s dive into what each of these has to offer.
Pricing
When it comes to pricing, the Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition is tagged at $599.99. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X 1TB Digital Edition in white will set you back $449.99, and the Xbox Series S 1TB, also in white, is priced at $349.99. Technical Changes
Diving into what’s new under the hood, YouTuber Austin Evans highlights some significant updates in the latest Xbox models compared to the 2020 Xbox Series X. Notably, the Digital Edition showcases a revamped heatsink system. Plus, it’s got a redesigned motherboard, and you won’t find the shield over the SSD anymore.
Evans also points out that the new Series X comes with a more compact 6nm SoC. In terms of power consumption, there’s been some tweaking too. The original Xbox Series X, for example, uses 61 watts when idling, while the new 2TB Galaxy Black Edition drops to 51 watts, and the Digital Edition is even lower at 38 watts. As Evans put the consoles through their paces with Forza Horizon 5, he observed that the standard Series X drew 167 watts, the Digital Edition clocked in at 156 watts, and the 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition was the most efficient at 151 watts.
On the gaming front, Xbox also unveiled the latter part of its October lineup. Expect to see titles like MechWarrior 5: Clans, COD Black Ops 6, Dead Island 2, Ashen, among others, making their way onto these consoles.
