The indie XR development team, The Binary Mill, is set to launch its space mining adventure, Into Black (2024), on PSVR 2. Having previously been exclusive to the Quest platform, fans can finally experience this action-packed journey on a new console.
The game, which debuted on Quest last October, allows both single players and groups of up to four to dive into an alien landscape. As players embark on thrilling quests to collect valuable resources, upgrade their gear, and fix their spacecraft, they must also confront a variety of enemies across more than 20 distinctive environments.
An exciting addition for PSVR 2 players is the ‘Singularity’ mode. This mode adds a competitive edge with its PvPvE setup, allowing up to 11 players to compete online. It’s a perilous race against time, where forming alliances essential but, as the studio warns, excessive greed may leave one stranded.
With its release on PSVR 2, Into Black has undergone significant enhancements. Players can anticipate improved graphics, with revamped environments and lighting effects that include softer shadows and HDR with eye-tracked foveated rendering. The updated version also takes advantage of the PS Sense’s adaptive triggers and the immersive headset rumble feature unique to PSVR 2.
Whether or not Into Black will support cross-play with Quest remains unknown as we await further announcements from the developers. Although a complete trailer showcasing the PSVR 2 improvements is yet to be released, the studio has provided a sneak peek with promotional images and short video snippets.
While an official release date has not been confirmed, The Binary Mill suggests that the new version of Into Black will be available soon. In the meantime, eager players can add the game to their wishlist on the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2.
