Xbox Wire: After checking out the newest Overture trailer, I dove into some fan-made videos that dissected every frame, trying to guess what might be in the works. What key messages or details should fans focus on in the trailer?
Ji-won Choi: I was really touched by the dedication of our fans who took the time to analyze the trailer so meticulously. It’s heartwarming to see such support from our community worldwide. The core message we aimed to communicate is simple: we’re listening to our fans. Over time, we’ve received a wealth of insightful feedback, and this trailer shows that we’re taking that input seriously.
Xbox Wire: With Lies of P, expectations may not have been high initially, yet it delivered an impressive experience. Now, as Overture is highly anticipated, how do you balance fan feedback with maintaining your creative vision?
Ji-won Choi: That’s a great question. This entire journey is a partnership between us as developers and our players. We analyze what resonates with our players and where we might need improvement. When feedback comes in, it ranges from straightforward to more complex suggestions. Instead of ignoring the challenging ones, we discuss them within our team, jot down ideas, and run tests to see what holds. We thoroughly consider and validate each piece of feedback.
Xbox Wire: From what I’ve seen, the original game often felt quite solitary. You’d return to the Hotel Krat and interact with others, but otherwise, you’d explore on your own. In this latest trailer, it seems like P isn’t alone as much. We see P with companions, like Aladoro breaking through a window to join in a fight. Is Overture aiming for a less isolated feel?
Ji-won Choi: Predicting players’ feelings, especially loneliness, can be tricky. Our main focus was to enrich the characters that players already found compelling. The base game introduced various characters, but often through subtle hints. The expansion will dive deeper, allowing you to really get to know these hinted characters, making your journey more complete.
