Acer is making waves in the graphics card arena with the introduction of six new models in its Radeon RX 9070 series. These fresh additions come with exciting base and OC models, boasting impressive boost clocks that can reach up to 3.1 GHz.
In a bold new move, AMD’s affiliate Acer reveals its eagerly anticipated BiFrost and Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 models. Notably, the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC is set to hit the shelves with a steep price tag of $829.
Acer, an AMD board partner but not typically as visible as other core partners, has been producing AMD cards for quite some time. With the reveal, they’ve rolled out an exciting mix of six models for the RDNA 4 GPUs—three each, bringing fresh competition into the market.
This lineup showcases two Nitro editions specifically for the Radeon RX 9070 XT and the Radeon RX 9070. Additionally, there’s one slick BiFrost edition available for each GPU variant. The BiFrost models are all about aesthetics and superior cooling solutions, promising stunning design and performance. Meanwhile, the Nitro editions cater to mainstream gamers but don’t skimp on offering robust specs.
Let’s dive into what the BiFrost editions offer. The Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16GB stands out with its stylish triple-fan cooling setup, adorned with eye-catching silverfish accents around the middle fan. Designed for peak performance, this unit sports FrostBlade 4.0 ringed fans with a counter-spin mechanism that optimizes heat dissipation, ensuring it stays cool under pressure. Combining factory overclocking up to 3.1 GHz with a sleek, nearly 295 mm length and a 2.5-slot thickness, this card is poised for delivering top-tier gaming experiences.
Turning to the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB, it mirrors its XT sibling in design but opts for two 8-pin power connectors instead of three. Unexpectedly, both versions boast a 340W power rating, even though the regular RX 9070 typically demands less juice. Technically, the dual 8-pin connectors, alongside the PCI-E x16 slot, can supply the necessary 340W, though it leaves limited space for overclocking like the BiFrost RX 9070 XT OC.
Now, shifting focus to the Nitro series, both non-OC and OC models make their presence felt within the RX 9070 roster. The Nitro RX 9070 XT OC, equipped with a triple-fan cooler, shares the same 3.1 GHz boost clock and physical dimensions as its BiFrost counterpart. It, too, requires three 8-pin power connectors for its 340W TDP. However, the non-OC Nitro RX 9070 XT trims its TDP to 304W while retaining the tri-connector setup and supports a boost up to 2970 MHz and up to 2.4 GHz in game mode.
Rounding out the new offerings are the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and the RX 9070 16GB editions, with clocks peaking at 2.7 GHz and 2.52 GHz respectively. The OC version draws 245W, while the non-OC one only requires 220W, though their design remains uniformly sleek.
Pricing details across the board are still under wraps, but one sure figure is the hefty $829.99 for the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB. Be prepared for the BiFrost model to set you back even more. Although availability specifics are scarce, the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC is scheduled to launch in the US by April.
