The latest update, Version 1.1.0, for Civilization 7 is now out, bringing with it a slew of enhancements that fans of the series will appreciate. One of the standout features of this update is the introduction of the Bermuda Triangle as a natural wonder, among other improvements and balancing tweaks. The tweaks to Mementos and enhancements to the Modern Cultural Legacy Path have been largely well-received by the community. However, the player base still has a few requests, like tweaking disaster rates based on game speed and brightening up some of the darker maps.
Civilization 7 was released in early February 2025, capturing the imagination of players who steer their civilization through the ages, from antiquity to modern times. Interestingly, a number of PS5 players found themselves with early access to the game’s downloadable content, Crossroads of the World Part 2, which was quite a surprise since the official release isn’t until March 25. It seems this lucky accident occurred for those who purchased either the DLC or the Founder’s Edition, even though only Part 1 was intended to be available at this time.
The 1.1.0 update is a significant one for Civilization 7, especially with its targeted improvements for console players. Among the changes, explorers in the Modern Cultural Legacy Path will now cost more, and players can study natural wonders as Artifacts, marking a strategic shift in achieving a Geographic Society victory. Additionally, new leader Ada Lovelace is here to join the ranks of the Science Leaders, alongside the Bermuda Triangle becoming a universally available natural wonder with the DLC’s release.
When it comes to the core gameplay, certain updates have made Mementos much more appealing by enhancing the abilities of leaders and civilizations that previously didn’t stand out. PC players haven’t been left out, either—they now have access to update features like converting Holy Cities and more Artifacts on Tiny maps in the Modern Age’s Geographic Society.
The 2025 roadmap for Civilization 7 hints at a promising year ahead. Following the Crossroads of the World DLC, Firaxis has planned to roll out the Right to Rule Collection from April to September, offering players two new leaders, four new civilizations, and four new world wonders—all for free. Meanwhile, they’re teasing yet even more complimentary goodies slated for release in October and beyond.
For those invested in the grand strategy and 4X genre, Civilization 7 continues to evolve, offering fresh challenges and strategic depth. With these updates and promised content, players have a lot to look forward to, keeping the game dynamic and engaging well into the future.
