After facing a series of setbacks, Robert Pattinson, who dons the iconic cape as Batman, finally has a handle on what’s in store for “The Batman: Part 2.”
Originally scheduled for release this year, the movie faced yet another delay last December, pushing it back to October 1, 2027. This was largely due to director Matt Reeves taking his time to perfect the script. Last month, Reeves expressed his ambition for the sequel to surprise audiences, mentioning the beginning of its production within the year, though he remained tight-lipped about the story. Yet, there’s one person who now knows what to expect: Batman himself, Robert Pattinson.
During the premiere of “Mickey 17,” Pattinson chatted with ExtraTV about his anticipation for the sequel, jokingly admitting with a laugh, “There’s a lot to be excited about; I finally know what it’s about. Matt is a meticulous writer, and what I’ve learned so far is very cool. I’m super thrilled.” His amused remark suggests Reeves was initially reluctant to disclose details even to Pattinson, but now that he’s looped in, the actor can start gearing up for what’s next.
Earlier this year, speculation was rife about Pattinson potentially taking on the role of the DC Universe’s primary Batman in tandem with his part in Reeves’ expansive crime saga. However, those rumors were swiftly squashed by Andy Muschietti, the director of “Batman: The Brave and the Bold,” setting the record straight that Pattinson won’t be crossing over into the main DCU canon just yet.
