Fortnite enthusiasts have been buzzing online, sharing their thoughts on the popular Kicks. Many players feel that Epic Games should expand the edit style options available for these cosmetic items, especially considering their price. With Chapter 6 Season 2 of Fortnite nearing its release on February 21, players are eager for the fresh additions of new locations, weapons, and skins to the game.
Since their introduction in late 2024, Fortnite’s Kicks have stirred up quite the controversy. The main gripe among players is how much these items cost, ranging from 600 to 1,000 V-Bucks. To put things in perspective, some character outfits are priced as low as 800 V-Bucks. With the Item Shop flooded with various Kicks, a significant portion of the Fortnite community believes Epic Games should rethink their pricing approach.
Recently, a Reddit user by the name AbiDextrous_ highlighted an inconsistency regarding the offering of edit styles. Fluffy Buns slippers, for instance, were given an edit style option that lets players switch between pink and blue colors, marking a first for Fortnite Kicks. This raised questions about why similar options weren’t available for the Nike sneakers, such as the Air Jordan 11 “University Blue” and “Legend Blue,” which only differ in color. Fluffy Buns are priced at 600 V-Bucks, whereas each Air Jordan sneaker costs 1,000 V-Bucks—but players can snag both in a bundle for 1,500 V-Bucks.
The debate deepens with some fans accusing Fortnite of trying to maximize its earnings from the player base. However, others speculate that Nike might have stipulated the uniqueness of each sneaker in the collaboration deal. As such, each party involved in the licensed collaboration likely had a say in how these items were implemented, possibly affecting available options. This contrasts with Epic Games’ original creations like Fluffy Buns, where they have more freedom over pricing.
Adding to the lineup, Fortnite has introduced Adidas Kicks to the game. While the arrival of these fresh sneakers stirred excitement among gamers, the same complaints surfaced—high prices and a lack of edit styles. Epic Games has yet to publicly address these concerns, leaving some players skeptical about any forthcoming changes. Despite this, sneaker lovers continue to be thrilled at the prospect of more kicks joining the Fortnite universe.
