A dedicated fan of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 recently unveiled an amusing Easter egg that serves as a nod to Puss in Boots. Their discovery adds yet another layer to the treasure trove of Easter eggs tucked away within the game for players to uncover.
The original Kingdom Come: Deliverance was famed for its abundance of cultural allusions. Back in 2018, the RPG delighted players with hidden gems referencing popular works such as Assassin’s Creed, The Witcher 3, and even Monty Python and Game of Thrones. This penchant for Easter eggs continues with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which hit the gaming world on February 4. Players quickly began finding that Warhorse Studios maintained their tradition of embedding intriguing references within the immersive sequel.
Recently, a Reddit user known as Pandiux90 shared their discovery of a whimsical Puss in Boots Easter egg. While wandering through Kuttenberg, within Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, they encountered a delightful gray cat decked out in leather boots, holding a small wooden sword between its teeth. Although another fan mused that this might point to the Czech fairy tale, Mikeš, which also stars a charming talking cat, it’s likely that Western players will recognize this as a nod to the much-loved Puss in Boots—a tale steeped in folklore originating from 16th-century Italy.
If you’re tempted to spot this Puss in Boots Easter egg for yourself, you should head to the northern wall of Kuttenberg. It’s tucked away a little to the east of the Kolin Gate, a noteworthy fast travel spot in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Keep an eye out as the little sword-wielding kitty is partly hidden by foliage, seemingly standing guard over a sack.
Kuttenberg is teeming with quests and secrets, and the Puss in Boots Easter egg is just a mere glimpse of what lies in store. However, there’s no rush to uncover this gem immediately. The Troskowitz region is equally packed with adventures and challenges, with some quests becoming inaccessible once you’ve journeyed to Kuttenberg. Don’t worry, though, the game provides handy hints when you’re nearing the point of no return for these tasks, usually a few hours after you wrap up the Wedding Crashers quest. Fortunately, even once the storyline proceeds to the next area, you’ll still have the freedom to return to Troskowitz whenever you please.
