In an impressive turn for Konami, the release of last year’s Silent Hill 2 remake significantly rejuvenated their video game revenue, marking a notable 32% uptick for the nine months that wrapped up in December 2024.
Diving into the financial details, Konami’s video game sector pulled in a remarkable ¥228.9 billion, equating to about $1.4 billion, while profits surged by a whopping 44.6% to ¥80.8 billion, approximately $521 million. This achievement comfortably surpassed Konami’s initial projection of ¥80 billion in profits for the entire financial year.
A closer look at the company’s divisions reveals that the Digital Entertainment sector, essentially their video games division, accounted for a substantial 73.6% of the total revenue. This marks an increase from the 68.5% share noted in the same nine-month period the previous year.
Highlighting the contributions to this success, Konami emphasized that the Silent Hill 2 remake played a significant role, shipping a solid two million copies by January 2025 since its initial release in October 2024.
On another front, the company’s eFootball series continues to gain traction and has been downloaded a staggering 800 million times, underscoring Konami’s strong foothold in the gaming market.
