Between February 4th at 10 a.m. and February 18th at 10 a.m. PST, players in both the Seasonal and Eternal Realms have the unique opportunity to revel in the glow of the Lunar Awakening limited-time event. A peculiar celestial occurrence is taking root across the shrines in Sanctuary, imbuing them with great and prosperous energy. Those taking part in the celebration believe it’s their Ancestors sending blessings from beyond, marking this joyous event.
To get in on the action, seek out any Shrine within Sanctuary, including those at Nahantu, and activate it. Doing so will grant you a 100% experience boost (yep, that’s multiplicative!) for a solid two minutes, as well as an extra kick of power. Plus, you’ll be earning Ancestral Favor Reputation along the way.
Make your way to Ked Bardu, particularly to the Northern part of town, to truly immerse yourself in the Lunar Awakening festivities. There, you’ll encounter Ying-Yue, the head honcho at the Lunar Night Market. This market serves as your go-to spot for all things Lunar Awakening. Trade your hard-earned Ancestral Favor Reputation for Unceasing Gifts from the Ancestors caches and delightful Lunar Renewal-themed goodies.
Lunar Shrines are scattered all over Sanctuary. Battle through dungeons and the wild terrain, engaging with Lunar Shrines and defeating monsters to rack up substantial amounts of Ancestral Favor Reputation.
During this event, all Shrines transform into Lunar Shrines, thanks to the returning spirits of ancestors enchanting them with auspicious power. These shrines offer a 100% experience bonus when activated, and they’ve got a fresh look to honor the year of the snake! While resembling typical Shrines, they’ve been supercharged to inject more thrill into this festive season. Spotting them is a breeze, thanks to their unique map icon.
Lunar Shrines deliver exciting bonus effects beyond their ordinary powers. Here’s a breakdown of what’s in store:
- Artillery Shrine: Spells may unleash a holy bomb.
- Blast Wave Shrine: Each explosion triggers a cluster bombardment.
- Channeling Shrine: Enjoy increased attack speed and a chance for cooldown resets.
- Conduit Shrine: Expect frequent, powerful thunderstrikes.
- Greed Shrine: A chance to summon a Treasure Goblin, with kills calling forth more during the Shrine’s active period.
- Lethal Shrine: Potential to instantly defeat a monster, instilling fear in nearby foes. (Applies to Elites, but not Bosses or other Players.)
- Protection Shrine: Reflect all incoming damage, scaling with Level and Difficulty.
Upon activating a Lunar Shrine, Miserly Spirits will spawn instantly, letting you dive right into the enhanced gameplay.
Across ten levels of Ancestral Favor Reputation, you can earn rewards like the shiny Resplendent Spark and six different Lunar-themed cosmetic treasures, including the new Trag’Oul’s Consort mount*. Keep pushing through those reputation levels for additional rewards like the Unceasing Gifts from the Ancestors.
*Note: Previous Lunar treasures, such as the Lunar Scepter, Dragon’s Courage, Moonshot Bow, Dragon’s Tapestry, Moon’s Bounty, and Trag’Oul’s Consort cosmetics, are one-time perks.
