GOG, the well-known digital platform for classic and DRM-free PC games, is launching an exciting new feature called the GOG Dreamlist. This tool allows users to voice their opinions and vote on the games they’d love to see added to the store. Essentially, it’s an advanced version of the community voting they’ve offered in the past, now streamlined into a comprehensive tool where fans can recommend and share stories about the games they cherish most.
In their FAQ section, GOG explains that they will utilize the data from the top-voted games to negotiate with the intellectual property owners, aiming to bring these fan favorites to the platform. While they can’t promise updates on every title’s progress, GOG is working on a feature that will let you track which of your voted games become available.
Each game will have its very own page where you can cast your vote and share personal anecdotes about your experiences with it. GOG plans to ensure these stories remain accessible once the game is released. They mention in the FAQ, “We’re working on a solution to migrate Stories to GOG.COM game cards once the game is released: we won’t let them get lost.”
In addition to this, GOG has recently introduced the GOG Preservation Program, focusing on keeping older games compatible with modern systems. Currently, this initiative includes 102 titles, with notable mentions like Fallout: New Vegas, Diablo, and Resident Evil 2. Even games that have been delisted, such as Warcraft and Warcraft 2, will remain downloadable indefinitely. GOG’s ultimate goal is to incorporate every game into this preservation program at some point.
As part of the GOG Dreamlist launch, they have now added Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 to their catalogue, and both games are included in the Preservation Program.
