Recently, the filming of the second season of the Fallout TV series hit a temporary pause due to the LA wildfires. Still, anticipation has been steadily building, especially with the buzz around new casting choices. The latest rumored addition to the crew is none other than Kumail Nanjiani.
That’s right! Previously, it was reported that a character reminiscent of the quirky brains from Home Alone would be joining, and now, it seems the Brotherhood of Steel is getting a serious upgrade.
In Jeff Sneider’s recent edition of The InSneider newsletter, he disclosed that Nanjiani is gearing up to play “a high-ranking official within the Brotherhood of Steel” in Fallout’s upcoming season. Fans might recognize him from his roles in Marvel’s Eternals as Kingo and as Haja Estree in the Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Nanjiani brings a wealth of experience, and not just in the action realm. With his comedic background from Silicon Valley and hilariously unique projects like Gay of Thrones, he’s sure to add an interesting twist to his role.
If Nanjiani’s role is indeed tied to the Brotherhood’s leadership, he might be at the center of season two’s storylines involving Aaron Moten’s Maximus. Maximus is the power-armored hero who was at the forefront of the trio in season one, along with Ella Purnell’s earnest vault dweller and Walton Goggins’ charismatic Ghoul.
Perhaps Nanjiani will portray Maximus’s new commanding officer—a seasoned Paladin or Elder aiming to keep his troops hunting for rogue laser pistols in the wasteland instead of getting distracted. Think along the lines of the Mojave Brotherhood from New Vegas, who bond over their quirks while bunker-bound.
Could Kumail Nanjiani end up joining those ranks, possibly engaging in some peculiar antics while others fiddle with plasma rifles around him? Who knows! We’ll have to stay tuned to see how he and his character will shape the unfolding narrative.
