NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5050 laptop GPU has recently been spotted in an LG laptop, effectively confirming its existence and offering a glimpse into what this particular model might entail.
Potential Compatibility of NVIDIA’s RTX 5050 with RTX 4050 for Seamless Integration
At the CES 2025 event, NVIDIA showcased its latest RTX 50 mobile lineup, featuring powerful models like the GeForce RTX 5090, RTX 5080, 5070 Ti, and 5070 GPUs. Interestingly, no mention was made of their more affordable 50-series and 60-series GPUs. However, thanks to a tip-off from @BullsLab, we now know that LG is preparing to incorporate NVIDIA’s RTX 5050 GPU into its future laptops, specifically the 2025 Gram model. Initially, these laptops will launch with the RTX 4050, but LG plans to switch to the RTX 5050 down the line.
A recent tweet from BullsLab Jay further stirs interest:

Apparently, NVIDIA had initially intended to introduce the RTX 5050 GPU at CES 2025 but later decided against it, which explains its mention in LG’s promotional materials. Since the LG Gram 2025 is expected to support an RTX 5050 version eventually, it seems likely that the GPUs will feature pin-to-pin compatibility. Such a design would allow these GPUs to utilize the same physical connectors and power configurations, simplifying the upgrade process for LG.
Rumors suggest that the GeForce RTX 5050 mobile GPU will be equipped with 8GB of GDDR7 memory and utilize the GB207 silicon. Codenamed "GN22-X2," this model promises performance and efficiency enhancements. If whispers are to be believed, the GeForce RTX 5060 laptop GPU is predicted to rival the RTX 4070, outclassing its predecessor, which could imply similar jumps in capability for the RTX 5050.
As it stands, NVIDIA has rolled out just four models from its RTX 50 series mobile lineup, but we can look forward to additional models making their debut in the coming months.
