Earlier today, well-known industry insider NateDrake shared exciting news for gamers: the once Xbox-only Halo: The Master Chief Collection may soon be part of the PS5 lineup in 2025. In another thrilling update, it looks like another beloved Xbox shooter could be making its debut on Sony’s console as early as later this year.
### Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Making Its Way to PS5?
Windows Central’s Jez Corden reports that three exclusive Xbox titles are potentially set to launch on the PS5. Among these are Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, Age of Mythology, and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, all possibly slated for a 2025 release on Sony’s platform.
Adding more fuel to the fire, NateDrake has also mentioned that Halo: The Master Chief Collection, along with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, is on track for a PS5 release this year. Plus, he speculates that Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth could be arriving on Xbox in 2025 and 2026, respectively. Corden hints that Microsoft might achieve significant sales achievements this year.
“If these whispers hold true — and remember, plans can shift, so always approach rumors with caution — Microsoft might see unprecedented revenue from its content this year,” Corden states. “The tech giant is working on a huge array of first-party games, with even more surprises lined up for the 2025 Xbox Showcase, which typically takes place in June.”
Corden continues, “For most of these games, versions for both PlayStation and Nintendo Switch might be ready at launch or shortly thereafter. The studios developing these titles will reap the financial rewards and support needed to elevate their work further.”
Whispers about Gears of War transitioning to PlayStation platforms have been circulating since early last year.
The original Gears of War made its debut on the Xbox 360 back in 2006 and has since become a cornerstone of the Xbox franchise. In 2015, the Ultimate Edition was released, offering enhanced visuals of the beloved original.
The move to launch Xbox games on PS5 seems to be a growing trend. Titles like Pentiment and Sea of Thieves have already made the transition, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle are expected to join them later this year. While Gears and Halo’s shift to PlayStation adds an interesting twist given their deep roots with the Xbox brand, it’s essential to remember that these are still just rumors. Clarity will come once these transitions are officially announced.
