At CES 2025, Shiftall, a company known for its MeganeX PC VR headsets, unveiled two intriguing new VR controller accessories: a SteamVR-compatible controller for PC VR systems and a distinctive add-on for Quest Touch controllers, which includes a scroll wheel and additional buttons.
GripVR
Shiftall has rolled out an innovative new controller called GripVR, tailored specifically for SteamVR Tracking systems (compatible with versions 1.0 and 2.0). This controller doesn’t stray from the familiar layout, packing in AB/XY buttons, pressable joysticks, triggers, and grips—all equipped with capacitive touch sensors to enhance user experience.
With a battery life extending up to eight hours, GripVR can be conveniently recharged using its USB Type-C port. It’s also designed to work seamlessly with a variety of SteamVR headsets, including popular models like the Valve Index, HTC Vive, and Shiftall’s own MeganeX superlight “8K.”
Shiftall plans to release GripVR this summer, with the price expected to range between $299 and $399.
AddCon
Shiftall has also announced the AddCon, a one-of-a-kind add-on for the left-hand Touch controllers of Quest 3/3S/Pro. This accessory enhances the controller by offering a wheel and additional buttons, potentially simplifying interactions with 2D user interfaces and VRChat-specific commands.
Interestingly, the AddCon features a shift function through a built-in capacitive sensor on the pinky finger rest, allowing users to switch between various command sets easily.
Shiftall describes the AddCon as a tool for users craving extra control for VR applications, such as tweaking camera settings or managing avatar functions in VRChat. The add-on supports more than 14 configurable inputs and can be tailored with a specialized PC application. This application can act as an OSC command transmission device for standalone VRChat setups, according to Shiftall.
The AddCon connects to the Quest via Bluetooth LE or a GX6/GX2 dongle and charges through its USB Type-C port. Priced at $69, it’s targeting a summer 2025 launch.
This announcement is in line with last year’s unveiling of the MeganeX superlight “8K” PC VR headset, slated for an early 2025 release with a price tag of $1,899. The headset stands out with its slim, lightweight design and its dual 4K high-resolution OLED panels.
If you’ve caught our previous coverage, you might recall seeing the term "MeganeX superlight 8K" in quotes. This is intentional, signaling that the 8K label doesn’t accurately reflect the headset’s specifications, which include dual 3,552 × 3,840 resolution OLEDs.
