Feeling let down that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim didn’t let you become a Jarl? Viking Dynasty, the newest title from Toplitz Productions’ Dynasty series, offers a fresh opportunity to prove yourself as the leader and founder of your own Viking settlement. Your village’s future hangs on your ability to hunt, explore, and govern wisely.
Set to release next year, Viking Dynasty promises to tone down the grizzly aspects of Viking life while keeping the challenges intact. As the latest addition to a lineup that includes Sengoku Dynasty, Medieval Dynasty, and Wild West Dynasty, this game tasks you with building and leading a Viking community. You’ll take on the role of Jarl, and yes, raising a family is part of the adventure.
Despite their tough exterior, Vikings are human too, requiring food and shelter. Neglect your responsibilities, or mismanage tasks, and your villagers won’t hesitate to express their discontent. A settler shivering with hunger is unlikely to remain loyal, so it’s crucial to keep everything in order.
Starting from the ground up, your Viking settler finds themselves on a rocky archipelago after a shipwreck. Viking Dynasty allows you to craft a new ship, enabling you to venture the seas once again—whether it’s seeking treasure, discovering new recruits for your village, or simply satisfying your wanderlust.
While it seems combat is mostly about hunting wildlife, don’t expect Viking Dynasty to emulate the all-out combat style of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. However, Toplitz guarantees an expansive world that feels truly immersive and authentically Norse, steering clear of the usual sandbox feel. Judging by the teaser trailer, the world of Viking Dynasty indeed looks visually stunning.
Even though this sounds exciting, you’ll need to exercise some patience before you can claim your place in Norse history. Viking Dynasty is slated for a late 2025 release on Steam Early Access, but if we’re lucky, akin to Vampire Dynasty, we might see a demo beforehand.
