In recent days, players might have been caught up in the buzz surrounding the pricing issues with Helldivers 2’s Killzone crossover gear, but let’s not forget that the Illuminate invasion is still raging on within the game. These alien adversaries seem determined to disrupt things further, putting a potential delay on your much-anticipated in-game vehicle in the crosshairs.
Fans of the game will recall the Omens of Tyranny update, which introduced Helldivers 2’s inaugural drivable vehicle: the Fast Reconnaissance Vehicle, or FRV. However, the pesky enemies are targeting it, and some players suspect there’s more to their agenda.
An important announcement from Arrowhead has recently come to light, stating: “The AM Defense Factory Hub on Achernar Secundus faces an Illuminate assault, compromising production of the Fast Reconnaissance Vehicle (FRV). Failing to fend off this attack could lead to a significant delay in FRV distribution, not to mention the grim fate awaiting numerous colonists.”
Predictably, this news had players scrambling to get to Achernar Secundus, only to realize something intriguing—this planet is perilously close to Meridia. For long-time fans, Meridia is known as the planet that was mysteriously transformed into a swirling purple black hole back in June.
To add to the intrigue, the appearance of this ominous black hole has been altered following the arrival of the Killzone crossover, featuring a darker appearance and new floating elements around it. This has led many to speculate that the Illuminate could soon set their sights on Meridia, perhaps using the black hole as a gateway for reinforcements.
Conjecture around the black hole as a potential entry point for the Illuminate isn’t without merit. Many have speculated this might be the case since its appearance. However, Arrowhead Studios remains unconvinced, at least publicly.
In a new in-game alert, the studio urged: “Some helldivers have observed new electromagnetic phenomena near the Meridian Black Hole. High Command is fully aware and monitoring this situation with expert attention. Helldivers are advised to stay focused on repelling the Illuminate threat.”
So, there you have it—leave the black hole theories to the professionals. Keep your eyes on the mission at hand. And hey, should Meridia become an active battleground, you’ll be equipped with some cool gear from the Killzone crossover. Arrowhead, in response to the pricing backlash, generously gifted players the crossover’s second part for free. So gear up and stay vigilant as adventure beckons!
