Haven’t set up a Nintendo Account yet? It’s easy and free to join. By creating one, you open the door to the My Nintendo rewards program, where you can earn points with every eligible digital game purchase on the Nintendo eShop. Points aren’t just for buying games, though. You can earn them by using Nintendo apps on your smartphone or simply by logging into Nintendo services, such as the Nintendo eShop.

Just a heads-up: Registering for a Nintendo Account is necessary if you want to download demos from the Nintendo eShop on your Nintendo Switch. Keep in mind that terms and conditions do apply.

To buy download games or snag demos and free software from the Nintendo eShop through the official website, your Nintendo Account must be linked to your Nintendo Switch console. It’s important that your console is designated as the active one for downloads—in other words, you should have visited the Nintendo eShop on the device you plan to download to at least once. For a seamless experience, ensure your system is updated, connected to the internet, and that automatic downloads are turned on. Adequate storage for downloads is also a must.
