Though it’s yet to be formally announced, there’s strong evidence suggesting that additional content for Black Myth: Wukong is in the works. The exact release date remains under wraps, but recent hints from the game’s director, Feng Ji, suggest we might be seeing it sooner rather than later.
At the Golden Joystick Awards, during what was a triumphant acceptance speech for Game of the Year, Ji intrigued fans by hinting, “there might just be some surprises waiting for you later this year.” This could imply that by year’s end, we may have fresh content from one of 2024’s most hyped releases.
Some speculate this remark might refer to the Xbox debut of Black Myth: Wukong. Prior to dropping that hint, Ji also noted, “you [players] might have already completed our game.” This suggests the mysterious “surprise” could be especially appealing to those who have already wrapped up Game Science’s critically acclaimed title.
With The Game Awards on the horizon, there’s buzz that Ji might be planning a big reveal during the event. If true, it would be a prime moment to showcase new Black Myth: Wukong DLC, particularly with its multiple nominations, including for Game of the Year.
This year, Black Myth: Wukong has certainly made waves as one of the most successful video games. Launched on PS5 and PC in August, it has already hit an impressive milestone of over 20 million copies sold. Despite a slight dip in rankings post-launch, it continues to be one of the most downloaded games on the PS5 platform. Even Sony has credited the action RPG for driving up their third-party software sales significantly this year.
For PS Plus Premium members curious about diving into Black Myth: Wukong, there’s currently a trial available. This two-hour glimpse provides ample opportunity to decide if Game Science’s RPG is worthy of a spot in your gaming library.
