Earlier this week, ZeniMax Studios’ quality assurance team took a stand, striking over the company’s rigid stance on remote work flexibility. The Communication Workers of America (CWA) pointed out that this action comes in response to stalled negotiations with Microsoft on vital topics, particularly around remote work preferences and the replacement of QA staff with outsourced contractors. This move follows the union’s filing of an unfair labor practice complaint against ZeniMax.
Senior QA tester and union member, Dylan Burton, expressed the core of their concerns: “We’re really pushing for job stability. Some of our team simply can’t make it back to the office under current policies, even on a part-time basis, and might be forced to resign,” he explained. “We’re deeply worried about how the company is leaning on outsourcing and how it affects our job security in the long run. It’s crucial that our employer addresses these issues.”
Adding to the conversation, Juniper Dowell, another senior QA tester and member of ZeniMax Workers United, remarked, “With this strike and the unfair labor practice filing, we’re hoping to urge Microsoft to seriously engage with us on our very reasonable demands.”
